I see SO many people around me being scared about the state of the world:
The climate! This politician and what (s)he did or said! Poison in our air, water, and food! Wars! Inequality!
I get the fears.
I get the anger.
Don’t get me started on patriarchy and how much it angered me (and how much I wanted to overthrow it.)
It can still anger me at times.
And there are many more issues that are near and dear to my heart and matter to me.
But.
I’m no longer scared of what I (think to) see in the world.
Not because I’m indifferent.
Not because I’m blind to the suffering or the uncertainty.
Not because I dismiss the intensity of what people feel right now.
In fact, I deeply understand why fear arises: it’s a natural response when things seem out of control.
I know the fears people feel right now can feel overwhelming—and for good reason.
The state of the world can seem chaotic, unpredictable, even threatening at times.
These fears often come from a deep care for the people and things we love, and that care is valid.
It’s human.
No, I’m no longer scared because I know that true safety and security are your true nature, independent of outer circumstances.
When you live from the spacious awareness you are, you realize that your happiness doesn’t depend on others or circumstances.
It’s not always easy to remember this, especially when fear shouts its stories at you.
But here’s the truth: fear isn’t reality—it’s just a lens, a story about what might happen.
And like any story, it can lose its grip when you stop believing in it.
From this inner peace you can still be an activist and bring change to this world.
But your activism will no longer come from fear, scarcity, and an inner war within yourself.
It will come from love, calmness and wisdom.
This doesn’t mean you won’t feel the pull of anger or sadness at times.
It means you won’t live in them.
You’ll act from something deeper.
This feels better for yourself AND gives a much better chance of actually bringing more love and peace to the world.
So, why doesn’t the state of the world bother me?
It’s not because I’ve given up or turned away, but because I’ve turned inward.
From this stillness, I’ve discovered that the love and peace I long for in the world begins with me—and so can you.
When we stop fighting within ourselves, we can stop fighting the world.
And when we act from this inner peace, the world begins to reflect it back to us.
What might you find if you looked beyond the stories fear tells you?
Love,
P.S.: Want to live this unbothered while still deeply care, too?
