How to join the call via Zoom:
There are two ways to join:
- through your computer, or
- by telephone.
Join through your computer:
Click on the custom Zoom link for the call.
You find this link in the email with your call-in details.
Click that link, and then click on the green button that says “Join Audio Conference by Computer.”
Join by phone:
Dial: +1 646 558 8656 (US Toll) or +1 408 638 0968 (US Toll) and enter your meeting ID number followed by #.
You find your meeting ID number in the email with your call-in details.

How can I turn my video off or on?
Don’t worry, your camera won’t turn on automatically. I set it that way, because I know how annoying it can be to suddenly be visible for everyone on the call.
Usually my calls happen WITHOUT video but with audio only.
(Still, it’s easy to join through computer because that gives you the option to chat! And you can still raise your hand and ask questions. You’re just not visible, only audible.)
However, sometimes I like to host calls INCLUDING video.
In that case you can see me, and you can choose whether or not you’d like to be visible as well.
If so, you can turn your video on (and off) by clicking the video icon on the left-hand side of your Zoom menu bar (hover over the bottom of the screen with your mouse, and the menu bar comes up)
How can I raise my hand to ask a question?
Click on the “Participant” icon in the center bottom of your screen if you are on a desktop computer. A box will open with the option “Raise Hand.” Click on the Raise Hand button and wait until I call your name and unmute your microphone.

You might also try leaving the event and rejoining it, making sure you click the green button that says “Join Audio Conference by Computer.” If your audio still doesn’t work, you can join the call by phone. (see instructions on top of this page)

Mute and unmute on the phone.
Press *6
When you hear a lot of background / feedback noise.
If you joined via telephone after joining via computer, please select Audio Options by clicking on the arrow next to the video symbol and choose Leave Computer Audio. Then enter #Participant ID#. Otherwise you can hear audio feedback or echo in the meeting.
