I finally realized a couple of years ago, when I was supposed to work on my book but didn’t follow through on it, that I wasn’t lazy. I wasn’t scared. And I wasn’t procrastinating either.
At that time, I remember feeling frustrated and even a bit guilty. I kept telling myself, “You should be able to do this. Why can’t you just sit down and write?”
But no matter how hard I tried to push through, something just didn’t click. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to write; it was just not working somehow.
So why didn’t it work?
It was because I tried to force myself to do something when it wasn’t the right time.
If you’re in a similar boat, the same could be true for you.
When it’s not the right time to do something, you can push yourself all you want, but you’ll either fail to get it done or the result will be so-so.
On the other hand, when the timing is right, everything flows smoothly.
(This is why I was able to write and publish six books in less than two years later on!)
How do you know if the time is right?
When you act naturally, without needing copious amounts of willpower or force.
Ask yourself:
-
Are you pushing yourself to get something done now?
-
Do you think you’re lazy or procrastinating?
-
Are you 100% certain now is the right time AND it’s the right action?
Don’t listen to what your mind tells you.
Pay attention to the subtle signs in your body and from your inner wisdom instead.
Trust yourself—when the time is truly right, you’ll deep down know it, and everything will fall into place with much less effort than you imagined.
Love,
