You set a price and feel good about it. Then, doubts flood in. Is it too high? Too low? Ethical or not? Are you under-charging? Over-charging?
You think it’s a you-problem. That you should work on your mindset. Increase your ability to receive. Love yourself more.
Or maybe you should be clearer on the benefits and what your clients gain by working with you. At the very least, you can start making a list of reasons that justify your price.
I can’t tell you how many of my clients had issues raising their prices. And each of them thought this was their personal issue.
It’s not.
It’s the result of the system we Iive in. To this day women are more likely to be challenged when quoting high prices. They’re more likely to have their expertise questioned. And they’re more likely to be perceived as greedy rather than professional when they charge what the market easily pays men.
Your hesitation to charge more is often an accurate read of the environment, not a flaw or internal lack.
Still, your first questions are probably: now what?
How do I fix it?
You don’t have to.
There’s no need to increase your capacity to receive, love yourself more, change your mindset, follow a course on pricing, or pray to the gods of abundance to release you from the burden of undercharging.
And you don’t have to pretend to feel more certain than you do.
Just let the discomfort be there. Don’t shy away from it.
Imagine saying your higher price to a potential client, and feel the physical contraction. Instead of avoiding or fixing it, stay with it.
Let it be uncomfortable.
Let your stomach contract and your butt clench.
Let your jaw lock and your shoulders tense and rise until they reach your ears.
Let it.
Forget about the stories the mind rattles off: that it’s too high, and it’s not safe, and you’re not allowed, and no one will want to pay it, let’s just forget about it and go bake an apple pie or whatever feels cozy and comforting.
No.
Stay.
See that when you don’t touch it, discomfort dissolves on its own.
See the space it leaves behind.
See the price that’s right for you arise naturally in that space.
(It might be higher than you originally thought.)
Love,

P.S. This is what happens in private coaching: we don’t fix. You don’t have to improve who you are or work on yourself at all.
We just look at what’s here, now. And we stay with it until it dissolves on its own. It always does.
What’s left is knowing what’s right for you: your price, your next move, your answer to whatever brought you here.
