I used to love those Law of Attraction posts.⁣
The ones that celebrate the make-ability of life. ⁣
The ones that tell you that your thoughts and vibe shape everything.⁣
And a better life is only one choice away. ⁣
⁣
I stumbled on one of these posts the other day.⁣
It had been a while, since I no longer resonate.⁣
⁣
Reading it, two things simultaneously came up.⁣
A memory of how much I used to love (and write) similar posts.⁣
And how aggressive the energy felt now.⁣
⁣
The whole post boiled down to one thing:⁣
⁣
Hey, if you’re not happy, that’s on you!⁣
You have the power to take back control and manage your vibe/thoughts/energy.⁣
If you don’t?⁣
Well, tough luck, baby.⁣
Just keep feeling bad—it’s your own fault.⁣
⁣
It’s disrespectful.⁣
Lacks empathy.⁣
It’s the spiritualized version of the army bootcamp, ⁣
where instructors shout in your face what a failure you are.⁣
⁣
You may have been there, too: ⁣
Trying to think better thoughts while life did what it wanted anyway. ⁣
Quietly wondering if the problem was you.⁣
⁣
I’ve seen it in many clients over the years.⁣
Their thoughts scaring them, if only a little.⁣
What if their negative thoughts held back their results?⁣
What if their ‘bad’ vibe attracted more things to feel bad about?⁣
⁣
The promise of LOA seems beautiful at first:⁣
Life’s in your hands!⁣
Just control your thoughts and all is well!⁣
⁣
Until you realize that you can’t control your thoughts.⁣
And you think you’re just doing it wrong.⁣
⁣
You’re not.⁣
You could control your thoughts if they were yours.⁣
And if you were the one creating them.⁣
⁣
You’re not doing anything wrong.⁣
There’s nothing wrong with you.⁣

There’s also nothing wrong with LOA.

It’s great for some, not for others.

Keep playing with it if it feels good.

But if it doesn’t?

You can safely drop trying to control what you think.

You’re not on control of it anyway.

You can simply relax and let thoughts do their thing: come up and leave again.

That’s all.

Really.

Love,
