Your biggest job is not the work you do. ⁣
⁣
It’s believing you’re the general manager of your life. And all the effort and struggles that come with it.⁣
⁣
I’m not asking you to believe you’re not.⁣
I’m asking you to see what being the general manager actually looks like.⁣
⁣
Just a few items in the job description:⁣
⁣
* Figuring out if what you feel is fear or intuition;⁣
* Controlling your habits and behaviors;⁣
* Figuring out what you want, now and later;⁣
* Figuring out how to get it;⁣
* Feeling responsible for your results;⁣
* Figuring out how to fix what you don’t want;⁣
* Getting the thing you wanted and immediately scanning for what’s still missing;
* Trying to diminish tension, discomfort, and stress; ⁣
* Being responsible for creating a life you like;⁣
* When things don’t work: analyzing, learning, blaming, tweaking, recommitting.⁣
⁣
It’s a fulltime job without vacations, sick days or days off. (And the pay sucks. You want lasting happiness, and never get it.) ⁣
⁣
You only get a break when you sleep. And even then, the brain’s often still busy. ⁣
⁣
It’s exhausting. ⁣
But you don’t realize how much. Because you think this is what life is, as a responsible adult.⁣
⁣
It’s not.⁣
⁣
Because you’re not the general manager.

Life is.

And once you see this, you’re free. Pressure drops. Tension, too. ⁣
⁣
Sure, it can still be felt at times. But you no longer see that as a ‘you’ problem. You see it for what it is: a feeling that’s there one moment, and gone the next.⁣
⁣
Here’s a small test to see if you’re truly the one deciding and managing:⁣
⁣
✔️ Can you accurately predict your next thought? Or the one you’ll have three hours from now?⁣

✔️ Did you create the thought you have right now? If so, how exactly? Or did you just … notice it was there?⁣

✔️ Wiggle your fingers. (Yes, literally do that right now.) Are you truly making that happen? How, exactly? Or does movement just … happen? And is simply experienced?⁣
⁣
There are no wrong answers. But freedom might show up in looking. ⁣
⁣
You can safely quit your biggest job now.⁣

Love,
