Always busy, doing things.
Thinking things.
Never rest.
True rest.
The kind where your body opens, softens, exhales.
The kind where you’re at peace with the moment and yourself.
Even during activities and busy schedules.
That’s what we’ve collectively unlearned.
It used to be normal, way back, when we were little kids.
You played.
You rested.
Both were equally important.
Play disappeared a long time ago.
Now, you only play in the form of hobbies.
(If even then.)
And rest?
Well, you sleep.
Take vacations.
And on weekends you do fun stuff—chores permitting.
(And if you have the energy for it.)
Too much emphasis is on being productive.
On making daily life, work, caring for others—
and perhaps for yourself—
work somehow.
That’s life, right?
Rest lives at the end of your to-do list.
After work.
After chores.
After retirement.
(Maybe.)
But now?
Life is just the way it is and rest and relaxation aren’t big parts of it.
That’s adulting.
Everyone does it!
Yeah.
Everyone does it because everyone’s been sold the same lies.
And very few show you how to live another way.
But there IS another way.
One that doesn’t require you to take time off.
That doesn’t require you to overhaul your life, neglect your kids, or quit your job.
And no, you don’t have to work on your mindset or step into a better you either.
Simply put, all it takes to rest,
in the middle of everything,
is this:
To meet life without bracing.
To shift from quietly resisting this moment—
to actually being in it.
You’re still doing dishes and cleaning the toilet.
Your workday still starts at 9, or 10, or whenever yours starts.
You still put up the Christmas tree and go for that promotion.
On the outside, not much might change.
But on the inside?
You stop fighting what already is.
And without trying—
you relax.
You open.
You soften.
It doesn’t take time.
It doesn’t involve a strict self-care regime.
And you don’t have to change anything other than this:
Where attention goes.
Love,
