Productivity feels normal.
Important, even.
If you’re not productive …
What’s your value?
What’s your contribution?
Where does your money come from?
Productivity is number one.
Resting and relaxing are for later.
After chores are done.
When it’s the weekend.
Or on your death bed. (If you’ve earned it.)
I always felt life was easier than people made it out to be.
And questioned why being lazy was seen as bad.
Why?
It made no sense.
Still, the pull to produce and achieve got ingrained in me too.
It is, after all, what you hear and see around you all. the. time.
But I wanted freedom.
Ease.
Flow.
And after being an entrepreneur for years, that’s what I got.
Was I able to enjoy it?
Nope.
I felt guilty.
I 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 do more.
I 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 do more.
Even though I didn’t want to.
The guilt slowly disappeared.
Doing less and having more time for myself felt more comfortable.
And over time, it became my new normal.
My baseline.
It still is.
And suddenly, this week …
The same thoughts arose:
I 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 do more.
Maybe I 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 do more?
I just watched these thoughts come and go.
I know I don’t have to do anything with them.
I don’t have to believe them.
And I don’t have to take them seriously.
Nothing is wrong.
And there’s nothing more for me to do.
If there was, I’d be doing it.
All that’s happening is more detoxing of conditioning and habits.
After decades of believing life needs your constant doing, the nervous system doesn’t quite know what to do with rest yet.
Maybe you know this too—that strange guilt when things finally get quiet.
The thought that whispers:
“𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 …”
Let it whisper.
It’s just a thought, not truth.
Love,
