A chapter from the book Awakened Awareness: 93 Reminders for an Effortless Life

Nothing Is Mundane
“Why something so mundane as marketing?”
she wondered.
“Isn’t your work more spiritual than that?”
We talked about my course on marketing from presence.
She didn’t see how it fit.
Wasn’t my work about important things—
like shifting into higher consciousness,
realizing you’re not a person
but the whole?
But ah—there’s knowing that you are,
and then…
there’s daily life.
There’s meditating,
floating on cloud nine,
then dropping back into
making money,
paying bills.
𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘈𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴,
you think.
𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘪𝘵𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧.
That’s good to know for later—
when clients are signed,
bills paid,
savings safe.
Awareness doesn’t know
a single thing
about marketing.
About getting your work
into the world.
About invoices
and groceries
and just…
living.
But it’s in the mundane,
in daily business,
daily life,
where your spiritual rubber meets the road.
We can all be calm and peaceful on a Himalayan mountaintop,
far from shouting kids and traffic noise and taxes.
But can you stay present when pressure builds?
When discomfort rises?
When the ego-mind scrambles to survive?
Can you just 𝘣𝘦
when everything inside you shouts
that you must 𝘥𝘰?
Perhaps it’s the mundane that’s most enlightened—
until you see
that all of it
was always
only
One.
