You think your dreams matter.
You chase them.
Shape your life around them.
You think they’re guiding you somewhere important.
I did too.
One of the pillars of my coaching and books has always been this:
To help you see what you really want,
instead of what you think you want.
That’s how much dreams and desires meant to me—
and to my clients.
I thought my dreams gave me direction.
I thought they told me what was meant for me in this life.
I thought they were important sign posts showing me my path.
Then—just like that—it all dissolved:
The striving, the chasing,
the belief that my dreams were leading me somewhere real.
I didn’t let go of my dreams.
There was no one left to hold them.
Now, I still want things.
But I’m not attached to getting them.
I will or won’t;
I’ll see how it unfolds.
That doesn’t mean I’m detached from life or my emotions.
It doesn’t mean I’m like a zombie, a robot,
a bored and lifeless piece of flesh.
On the contrary!
I’ve never felt more free,
more alive,
or more awake.
It simply means I see through my dreams now.
(And through the one I thought was dreaming.)
My dreams were never ‘mine’.
I didn’t create them.
I didn’t cling to them.
It just happened.
My dreams weren’t signposts.
They were smoke.
There never was a ‘me’ chasing any dream.
Everything was never more (nor less!) than this:
Just life.
Dreaming itself.
Love,
