You think you need to steer your business, your life.
You need to set a course.
Carve a path,
or else you end up nowhere.
(Or someplace you don’t want to be.)
You think things fall apart
if you don’t hold them together.
You think that if you don’t act,
your dreams will never come true.
If you don’t take control, who will?
If you don’t manage what seems controllable,
what might go wrong?
And so you’re constantly calculating, analyzing, overthinking:
Is this the right move?
Is this the right time?
Am I sure I’m not overlooking something?
It’s utterly exhausting.
Your mind is working overtime,
all the time.
Thinking that it, that you,
are the one who holds your life together.
But … what if you’re not?
What if the weight you’ve been carrying was never yours to carry?
What if there was no weight to carry at all?
And what if there was no one to carry anything?
There’s nothing to let go of.
You couldn’t if you tried.
There is no one to carry,
no one to try,
no one who has any control.
All of it was always life.
All of it was always just a dream.
That no one had.
