My only job (yours, too)

“Not everyone will understand what you write about,” she said, looking slightly worried.

“I know,” I said.

“That’s because I don’t write for everyone.”

My goal in writing is not to be understood, guide, teach, or take someone by the hand. I only have one goal, one all-encompassing aim: To let the writing be what it already is. Period.

My writing, my courses, my coaching: they’re for the ones who resonate. They resonate with or without understanding what I’m on about. They don’t need explanations, bridges, or being handled with caution, like breakable china. The ones who need, demand an explanation aren’t the ones who resonate. They’re not the ones my writing and work are for. They find their resonance elsewhere.

So why try to reach those my words aren’t for? 

Why dilute what I have to say and end up speaking to no one?

No.

‘My’ job is to let come through what’s already here, and be as true to that as I possibly can. Regardless of being understood. Of being liked. Or even being seen.

That’s ‘your’ job, too. 

It’s not even a job.

It just comes through. 

Or not.

It’s not yours to manage.
