My days aren’t ruled by to-do lists or plans. Just because I put ‘post on LinkedIn’ on my to-do list, doesn’t mean I’ll do it this week. Or at all.
I don’t even look at things to do in a day. I take it moment by moment, regardless of what day it is. Sure, if there’s an appointment on my schedule, I keep it. I’ve yet to leave a client hanging because I’d rather watch the new episode of a new series.
But other than that? I do what the cliché calls ‘going with the flow.’ (Shout out to the ancient Taoists.)
Sometimes that looks like reading a thriller on a Monday afternoon.
Sometimes, it looks like it did on a recent Saturday.
I:
✨ Rewrote my homepage,
✨ And the opt-in page for my newsletter,
✨ And the confirmation email;
✨ Created a new 404 page;
✨ Fixed an issue with a broken link that showed up in weird places;
✨ Came up with a list of ideas for my newsletter;
✨ Wrote 7 new blogs (not counting this one);
✨And took 73.452 steps. (Rounded upwards a bit.)
Years ago, I’d have called this a ‘productive day’. Look at me spending my time wisely, on a weekend no less!
Now, I don’t call it anything. It’s just the way the day went. The things I did were just … the things I did.
Productive, unproductive … since plans and thoughts of things I really should do no longer rule my life, measuring and tracking what I do has left the building, too.
There’s still a to-do list. But it’s just a collection of reminders, no longer the slave-driver of my existence.
Love,

P.S.: More flow, less being bossed around by shoulds and to-do lists — that’s usually what happens when you work with me 1-1.
