You know how some people say ‘work hard, play hard’?
Yeah. I don’t like that.
I don’t want to work hard.
I want to be in the flow, take inspired action, and feel at peace and joyful in whatever it is I’m doing.
If that’s something that looks like ‘work’ and it produces ‘results’, then that’s a nice bonus.
But I don’t want to ‘work’ if it involves pushing, struggling, or disliking every second of it. I don’t want to ‘power through’, ‘do or die’ or ‘work my way to the top’.
I want to express myself fully, follow my calling, and live my purpose.
If that inspires others? Great. If that makes me money so I can pay my bills and buy what I want and need? Even better.
But it comes as a RESULT of being ME, of living my purpose, of being true to what I most deeply feel wants to be done by and through me.
I don’t want to ‘play hard’.
I want to relax in each moment, whether I’m ‘working’ or ‘playing’.
What’s the difference anyway, if you follow your path and do what you feel is the right thing to do for you, in that moment? And you do it with all your heart, your soul, and all the love and joy you can possibly pour into it?
I don’t want to ‘work hard, play hard.’
I choose to LIVE. I choose to BE. I choose to be ALL I can be, express myself fully, take action from BEing instead of from forcing, willing, or needing things to happen.
Do I already live this way?
Hell no. I have my moments. Minutes. Hours. Sometimes days where my life flows like this.
And then I get pissed off about whatever, annoyed by whomever, distracted by something stupid and totally irrelevant in the bigger scheme of things.
And that’s OK. I choose to fully LIVE, and accept that sometimes I’m in flow, and sometimes I’m not.
There’s no room for ‘work hard, play hard’ in my life.
Because it’s not what I choose.
If I did choose it, it would be a conscious decision that would bring me joy.
It would be the answer to the question how I REALLY want to live my life.
It doesn’t matter what YOU choose.
Just make sure YOUR life is YOUR answer to the question what really matters in YOUR life.
What’s the kind of life that TRULY matters to you?
Live that life.
And let go of whatever is not compatible with it. Is not compatible with YOU.
Life really is that simple.
Unless, of course, when it isn’t.
And that’s part of a meaningful life (and business!), too.
Do you like to work hard, play hard? Or not? And does your business reflect how you most want to live?
