You know when you have soooo much to do that your mind is spinning; you don’t know what to do first; and all you can think is that you should focus! now! dammit!
And as a result you’re completely paralyzed and don’t do much of anything at all?
Yeah. We’ve all been there. I’ve been having one of those mornings today, but I managed to stop running around like a headless chicken and regain my focus again.
Here’s how I did that:
#1 Present moment awareness
Bring yourself back to the present moment. When you’re fully present in this moment, there is no overwhelm. There is no pressure. There is no restlessness.
100% of your power, focus, attention and energy is available to you in THIS moment.
Not tomorrow. Not tonight. Not yesterday. NOW.
Here you go:
Take a couple of deep breaths. Slow your breath down with every inhale and exhale.
Relax your eyes, eyebrows and forehead. Unclench your jaws.
Take a moment to look around and really SEE what’s around you right now.
Feel the temperature of the room. Feel the air on your skin. Be aware of what you smell. And how your body feels.
There you go. Much better, right?
#2 Set your intention
How do you want to feel right now? How do you want to feel throughout this day? How do you want to feel while you take your actions?
Choose. Decide how you will feel.
#3 The bigger picture
Forget about your to-do-list. I know, it’s a mile long. But you know what? It will still be a mile long tomorrow. And next week. And next year.
You’ll never get EVERYTHING done. So forget about that. Life is NOT about scratching things off of your to-do-list.
Life is about LIVING it. Business is about ENJOYING it, about making a difference doing what you love and getting paid for it.
Or whatever it is about for YOU.
Remind yourself of the overall picture of your business and life:
What REALLY matters to you?
WHY are you in business in the first place?
And what is it you most deeply want to achieve and experience?
Now that you’ve decided how you want to feel today, and reminded yourself of what matters to you most, it’s time to prioritize:
What’s most important for you to do today?
Which 1-3 actions will have the most impact on how you want to feel and what you truly want to achieve most of all?
Pick ONE thing, and take action on it. Give it your full attention. Be present. Do one thing at a time.
Take that one step. Then take a little break. Do the next thing. Give that your full attention. Take a little break. Repeat.
Congratulations. You’re back on track 🙂
P.S.: Still feel stuck?
I’ve got you covered 🙂
