We’re almost halfway through 2015.

Which is a good time to take out your business goals for this year, and see how you’re doing so far.

(By the way, if you didn’t set any goals for this year, I suggest you do so now. The clearer you are on what you want to accomplish, the bigger the chance that you will.)

Are you on schedule? Does it look like you’re going to accomplish your goals?

Evaluate how you’re doing so far, and if you need to make any changes.

You can do this the old, boring way by answering a bunch of questions, like:

–      Which goals did I already achieve?

–      Which goals need some adjustments?

–      What do I need to stop doing in order to reach all the goals I have set for my business?

–      Which actions do I need to take to accomplish my goals?

–      What do I have to change?

–      Etc. etc.

This works very well, of course.

I’m answering these questions myself this week.

But there’s a more creative and fun way to figure out what you need to do to accomplish the goals you set:

Ask your future self for advice.

Here’s how it works:

Get a pen and a notebook and make sure you won’t be disturbed for at least 20 minutes.

Close your eyes. Imagine it is New Years Eve, 2015. Before you go to a party or whatever it is you prefer to do on the last evening of this year, you spend some time alone to reflect on your year.

See yourself on this day, extremely happy and fulfilled.

Every goal you have set for yourself you have achieved – and you’ve even accomplished more than you could ever have imagined at the beginning of this year!

What exactly did you achieve?

What have you accomplished / learned / experienced?

Notice what comes up, and then open your eyes.

Start writing down everything that came up. How does it feel to have accomplished all this? How important is it to actually make this happen?

Once you’ve written this down, close your eyes again. Go back (or forward, actually) to your future self.

Imagine you’re in the same room with your future self on December 31st, 2015.

In your hand you have the list of accomplishments you just wrote down.

Now ask your future self:

  • What did you do to come this far?
  • What did you change? How did you do it?
  • What’s the best advice you can give me now?

Notice anything that comes up.

Don’t distract yourself by wondering if you’re making it all up or what kind of stupid thing you’re doing right now.

Who cares if it’s stupid or if you’re making it all up? If it works, it works. And if it helps you gain some insight and get answers you didn’t have before, your mission is accomplished 😉

Again, write down everything that came up and that you noticed, whatever it was.

This week’s Transformational Action:

Take some time this week to reflect on 2015:

Are you satisfied with the way things are going?

If not, what needs to change?

What actions will you take to make sure you’ll feel happy and satisfied about 2015 when you look back on December 31st?

See what comes up and what you need to do or change.

Take action on that.

And don’t forget to celebrate what you’ve created and accomplished so far!
