Recently I conducted a survey in which I asked what the biggest struggle is that people experience in marketing their business.

What struck me is that a lot of people seem to be waiting for something before they feel ready to market effectively (or even market at all).

The truth is, that you can start marketing TODAY.

If there’s something, anything, you can sell right now, you have something to promote and make visible.

Yes, this can be scary.

And yes, you may not know where to start.

But waiting is not the answer – you won’t magically stop fearing it or know what to do if you just wait, and wait, and wait.

And no, you don’t need these 3 things first:


#1 A logo or brand

I know, it looks fancy. Having a brand seems so businessy and professional and grown up (or maybe it’s just me who used to think that ;-).

But you don’t need it. Not now. Not ever, even. You can build a very successful business without a logo or a brand.


#2 A money funnel

Nope, you don’t need that either. You don’t even have to know what it is yet.

(It’s a way to lead people step by step through your business, from a free thing that gets them on your list, to a cheap product, to a more expensive one, to your high end offer.)

If right now the only thing you have to offer is a workshop, or private coaching, or healing sessions, than that’s what you start marketing now.

There’s plenty of time to figure out what a money funnel could mean for your business, and how it can serve you in serving more clients.


#3 One or more products besides a service you offer

You also don’t need products just yet. Start marketing and selling what you have to offer right now. There’s plenty of time to figure out how to create products, your money funnel and/or business model in a later stage.

Let’s face it: marketing can be scary.

It can trigger a truckload of fears. (Fear of being visible. Of being criticized. Of being rejected. Fear of failing. And of succeeding.)

And doubts. (I don’t know what to do. I don’t know where to start. I’m not good enough. I can’t do this.)

Not to mention all kinds of negative beliefs about marketing, selling and money. (I’m not in it for the money. Selling is sleazy. Marketing is unethical.)

But the truth is this:

If you are serious about your business, and you want to make a difference AND money, you need to market.

You can learn how to do it. NO ONE is born with the knowledge to market a business. Everyone had to learn it, and you can learn it too.

You can learn how to overcome your fear. And you can even learn to like marketing (or at least stop hating it).

But don’t wait. Just do it.

Your gifts need to be shared and your mission needs to be fulfilled.

Marketing helps you do that, by letting the people you can help know that you exist, and how you can help them.
