A lot of people, and especially heart-centered entrepreneurs and change agents, struggle with the fear that their mission is bigger than they are.
It’s one of the things that can really hold you back and keep you playing small in your business.

I know from my own experience how overwhelming your mission and purpose can feel – and how this feeling can paralyze you.

If you recognize this fear I invite you to keep on reading – I might scare you a little more at first but I’ll fix that later on, I promise.

It’s just like Gloria Steinem so eloquently put it:

“The truth will set you free.

But first it will piss you off.”

So, let’s get started with the latter 😉

Is it possible your mission is bigger than you are?

The first answer is: yes, it is.

Because your mission IS bigger than you are.

Let me define first what I mean when I talk about your mission.

To me, your mission is how you fulfill your life purpose in your business.
Your purpose is the reason you started your business in the first place: your why.

Your purpose, and therefore your mission, is connected to something much larger and bigger than just you and your life:

It is connected to everyone and everything around us. We are all connected to everything and everyone around us.

If you look at it from this perspective, it is absolutely true that your mission is bigger than you are.

But that’s probably not going to make you feel less scared or more capable of accomplishing your mission, I guess 😉

But luckily, there is also the second answer, which is just as true as the previous one:

No, it is NOT possible that your mission or purpose is bigger than you are.

Richard Bach said:


“You are never given a dream without also being given the power to make it true. You may have to work for it, however.”

The same thing applies to your mission:

You are never given a mission without also being given the power to accomplish it. 

If it is connected to and is a result from your life purpose, that is.

And yes, you definitely have to work for it.

But everything you need to accomplish your mission is already within you and/or available to you.

This week’s Transformational Action

Take some time to reflect on these questions:

  • Do you know what your purpose is?
  • Do you know your mission?
  • And are you fulfilling them in your business right now?

If your answer to one of these questions is ‘no’, your first step is to clarify your purpose.

Once you know what that is, you can start figuring out what your mission might be.
